Modern Slavery policy
Modern Slavery is the use of forced, compulsory, child or trafficked labour. Over 10,000 people were identified as potential victims by the authorities in 2019 so we all have a duty to be vigilant.
We provide electricity and natural gas service to over 100,000 residential meters in the U.K.'s deregulated retail energy market. We are a fully owned subsidiary of Genie Energy Limited, an American energy company headquartered in Newark, New Jersey. Because of what we do, it is unlikely that we would see any modern slavery in our supply chain. But, like Genie, we ask that all our partners and suppliers adhere to our obligations. We conduct Due Diligence on everyone we contract with to make sure they do. We carefully select the partners and suppliers we work with, and look at their reputation and experience within the industry. Where we partner with smaller companies, we ask more questions on how they recruit and manage their workforce.
This statement is made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our modern slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 December 2021.
